Hi former Panda — We’re happy to hear that you enjoyed working alongside your fellow Pandas in our new Vienna HQ and benefited from our hybrid working policy! At Bitpanda, our DNA reflects the incredible culture we’ve built together with our Pandas. We do our very best to ensure that everyone on our rocketship lives and breathes each of them to make this an open, honest and fully transparent workplace. When it comes to Radical Candor, we always strive to practice what we preach and give everyone here the ability to share their open and honest feedback. This is why we regularly give all our Pandas the opportunity to share what’s working well and where we need to improve in our completely anonymous Employee Voice Survey. Our dedicated People Team is also always on hand to provide confidential help and support whenever needed. Because the sector we operate in is rapidly changing, we have to move at a very fast pace (think building the rocketship while flying it!). And as we operate on the idea of “launch fast and iterate”, it’s never supposed to be perfect. Instead, we aim to learn together from our experiences and keep building — better — together. Thanks for taking the time to reach out and leave your thoughts about your time with us. We’re wishing you all the best in your next adventures!

Hi Panda — We’re pleased to hear that you’re enjoying our new Vienna HQ, the culture we’ve built together at Bitpanda and working alongside your fellow Pandas. We know that the recent news has come as a shock to many. The current extent of the market situation was also surprising for us and was impossible to fully predict. Unfortunately, this meant we’ve had to move fast with a one-time-only reduction to our team. This tough call was taken to ensure we can navigate this storm as a financially healthy company and stay true to our mission of making investing accessible to everyone. At Bitpanda, we’re committed to creating a working environment that is always open, honest and fully transparent. That’s why we wish our communication about this one-off scale-down could have been more personal, with no questions remaining open. Regrettably, this was not possible due to the different local jurisdictions and strict legal restrictions. Understandably, seeing so many talented team members having to leave is difficult. But we also know that the fantastic culture here will only keep evolving and get stronger with our incredible Pandas. Finally, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us here. Remember, if there’s ever anything you want to reach out to us about, or share your opinions, please feel free to get in touch with our People Team at peopleteam@bitpanda.com — they’re always here to help!

Joining Bitpanda was best decision ever!

Pros

I've joined Bitpanda in November and couldn't be happier. I was positively surprised with the company culture where everyone works together, supports and helps each other. The top-down policies are employee-centered with a great focus on growth and development. It definitely is not a place for those who prefer a regular 9-5 job. It is a great environment for growth and honing on your skills and developing new ones. There is also a lot of communication from C-level and Pandas' feedback is taken into consideration. It's about the results not hours, so there is a lot of flexibility which is great especially for women.

Cons

I wish the benefits package was complete - there are still a few things missing from it.

Pros

- International teams, - Office looks good, - They have started to listen to senior devs that are trying to push the wheel in the right direction, - Work from anywhere, vacations, "week breaks". But, I'd say they're offering this many benefits because they cannot keep devs at bitpanda or because employees are just stressed. - One thing that I really like is that you might be able to work like 6 hours a day (with a reduction of salary), - It might be good to work here to put into your CV and to learn some technologies for a starting dev, - To learn what a growing start up can be. - Free coffee so you can work during the nights.

Cons

- Very unorganized and forced hyper growth. - Experienced and old employees are leaving the company constantly. As a result many people are new and/or nobody knows what should be done and/or are so overwhelmed that they cannot think on what's really important to keep the "molecular structure" of the company. - Awful on-boarding, many new comers are quite pissed off. - Inter-team communication is very hard as everyone is on an urgency. - Manager responsibilities somehow end up in the "leaves". - Bad planning of new features. Devs, QAs and POs are paying for all the bad management decisions. - Urgent priority changes over urgent existing priorities with very strange dead lines. I've seen testers, POs and PMs working non stop for months, even during the nights. - Salaries cannot keep up with other companies and the work-life balance is quite bad. - Overtime is not considered in your salary. HR will say that you can work less on a Friday if you work more during weekends, but, that is hard to achieve. - HR keeps talking about career paths but seems impossible with all the chaos. - Engineering managers don't seem to have the power of decision or expertise to really change anything.

Hi (former) Panda, We really appreciate you taking the time to leave your thoughts about how you found life at Bitpanda. As a high-impact and fast-paced company in a highly competitive industry, in order to grow, we have to work hard to always be thinking big and moving fast! While this can bring about fast changes, we always make sure that they are done for the right reasons and have a positive impact. So while working at Bitpanda will often mean having to go beyond the typical corporate 9-to-5, we ask all current and potential Pandas to keep this in mind to ensure it's the right fit for them. However, we're incredibly proud of the amazing talent that we are not only able to attract to our den but also retain. Part of our ability to do this is not just the incredible personal growth opportunities we offer but also our revolutionary "flexibility-first" approach that allows every one of our Pandas to personalise the way they work to have the optimum work-life balance. Of course, as a company, we know there's always room for improvement. That's why we've recently kicked off our Bitpanda Employee Voice survey to ensure everyone here has the ability to speak up, talk straight and help us grow stronger and tackle any areas of weakness. Thanks for all your effort during your time in our den. We hope we've managed to address the points you've raised here, and we wish you nothing but success in your next adventures!

Pros

Modern Tech Stack: Engineers and product teams get to work with current tools and frameworks, which is a plus for technical growth. Diverse, Talented Colleagues: Despite the internal challenges, Bitpanda has managed to attract skilled individuals. Peer learning is one of the few bright spots.

Cons

As a an employee at Bitpanda, my experience has been a mix of initial enthusiasm followed by growing frustration. While the company markets itself as an innovative fintech leader, internally it struggles with several deep-rooted issues that directly affect employee well-being and long-term retention. Uncompetitive Salary: The compensation is significantly below market average, especially for the demanding nature of the work and the high expectations placed on employees. Raises and promotions are infrequent and lack transparency. Micromanagement Culture: Trust in employee autonomy is minimal. Managers often interfere with day-to-day tasks, leading to a sense of suffocation and lack of creative freedom. Constantly Changing Rules: Policies, processes, and even team structures change abruptly without proper communication or justification. This lack of consistency creates confusion, stress, and inefficiency. Unrealistic Deadlines: Tight timelines are the norm rather than the exception. The pressure to deliver fast often overrides quality, and there’s little regard for employee burnout. Low Morale and Motivation: Due to the reasons above, team spirit is low. Many employees operate in survival mode rather than feeling inspired or driven to contribute meaningfully.

Dear employee, Thank you for your comprehensive and candid feedback regarding your experience as an Android Developer at Bitpanda. We appreciate you taking the time to articulate your observations and advice. We are glad to hear that you value our "Modern Tech Stack" and the opportunity for growth it provides. It's also encouraging to know you appreciate your talented team and the peer learning environment, despite internal challenges. We agree that our business outlook remains strong. However, we are deeply concerned by the significant frustrations you've outlined, particularly regarding our compensation and leadership style. Your feedback about that is taken extremely seriously. We hear your points clearly on Compensation, Leadership & Empowerment, Transparency, Motivation and Work-Life-Balance. We are actively reviewing and implementing strategies to address these core concerns across the organization. Your detailed insights will directly inform our efforts to enhance employee well-being, strengthen our leadership, and ensure Bitpanda is a workplace where everyone feels valued, fairly compensated, and empowered to thrive. Thank you for your time you put into the review, this is how we can learn as an employer! Sincerely, The Talent Acquisition Team
