Worst Company Ever!

Pros

Nothing to say so not gonna say anything.

Cons

- Management games and politics: managers only promote their friends and allies; - Appraisal system unclear and random: no clear-cut metrics to guide staff; - Long hours and no work-life balance: employees expected to check the 'berg for messages and respond ASAP even if they're not on company devices; - Company doesn't respect privacy: can trace how many times staff take bathroom breaks, when they clock in/out, length of lunch breaks etc.

Pros

Looks great on CV Lots of opportunities to learn Standard benefits package, no better or worse than competition Easy to sell as dominates sector, twice more terminals than Refinitiv installed

Cons

Long hours, standard 8-6 flat structure, takes ages to progress career Promotion is based on how manageable you are, are you willing to confirm to the culture Brightest people are never promoted When this is your first job in life be ready to work very very hard, and put up with lots of unfairness You will be clocked in and out all the time Bullying and harassment is part of culture although employee guide condemns it If you are on visa be ready to be exploited as the company knows you have no choice but to be compliant Work is mechanical as there are processes You have to log every move, call, meeting into crm You will fly a lot and stay in hotels a lot if you are in a sales role You will see zero smiles and happiness and soon you will be the same

Good first job out of school, not much else

Pros

Decent starting pay for a first job Good benefits Free food Big name to put on your resume Learn some transferable skills

Cons

Insane amounts of red tape when trying to implement anything new. Bureaucracy is overwhelming. Takes an hour to update small code changes and then weeks to move it to production. Too many cooks in the kitchen when trying to build things, so very little actually ever gets done. Toxic culture and politics in certain departments (have worked in several teams, some are better than others). Most managers are just ladder climbers who have stayed at the firm for 4+ years. Most have drank the proverbial kool-aid and ignore all blatant problems that might make them look bad. Company pretends to have a google-esque tech culture, but aside from the food and benefits, is extremely static and hierarchical. Bloomberg hires many very smart people fresh from college, but there is still super high turnover rate. Analyst roles are just glorified customer service, and tech roles are just duck taping and dealing with technical debt. Most of the actual talent leaves after a year or two to better tech companies or financial firms.
