Too much time spent on reviews both mid-year and year-end. Expected to produce 12 pages of personal feedback to justify our existence. Surely even partners don’t have time to deal with all that bureaucracy. Managers are inexperienced and frequently patronising. There is also an element of distrust which the team find demotivating. It is very much an environment where favouritism flourishes and not necessarily based on performance more on flattery.

Internal roles are often filled by ex consultants who don’t really have any expertise in the role, which leads to a lot of challenges. Senior leadership is terrible, scared to make decisions, and overall way too fragmented to be impactful. Some people have been at bcg for far too long and became complacent.
