Pros

Benefits of the company in general are fantastic!

Cons

Knowledge Team most unprofessional. KT teams thriving on the legacy and brand built by world-class consultants. They themselves are merely a support function. New ideas/processes take a long time to be heard. Team lead(s) lack professionalism and fail to work under pressure. Bureaucratic and highly political work environment. Heavy micro-management within the KT teams. Less focus on knowledge building and collaboration, more on individual shortcomings and pointing out mistakes. Unnecessary pressure created by internal politics. They pick and choose who they allow to advance based more on politics than hard work and skills. There is no rhyme or reason to most decisions they make; if they like you, you're set. If they do not like you, you are either harassed into quitting or you get terminated. It's also a very sexist and racist company.

Pros

- Great consulting experience - Genuinely nice people

Cons

- You don't get the industry experience you want e.g., people interested in Education weren't staffed on Education projects but foreign (non Americans) consultants were which is odd. - McKinsey SFBayArea work coverage and network is significantly stronger than BCG so you should consider this. It affects two things (1) the kind of experience you get at BCG SF and (2) the type of jobs you get after you graduate and you have to use your network to get VP and up jobs

Pros

Your co-workers are some of the smartest, most driven people around. You will be pushed to perform at high standards, yet are supported by your team and other office mentors.

Cons

BCG is great, but consulting involves lots of travel, long nights, short deadlines and sometimes unreasonable client demands. Not having done something before is also not an excuse for not being good at it right away.
