Pros

Competitive salary, good work/life balance, low meeting overhead. Broadcom is a place where they let you get work done. Meetings are often scheduled in the evenings to allow multiple continents to attend, and the later ones can be attended from home over the phone. Many groups allow flexible hours once you prove yourself able to get work done.

Cons

Marketing driven engineering, corporate attitude, slow growth. It can be hard for an engineering sourced feature to get a green light, and it's easier to give up rather than convince all the right people. It's getting more "big corporate" attitude every year and every penny counts to management now. Freebies and celebrations are much harder to come by than they once were, and bonuses are awarded less often.

Pros

Salary to feed your family, pay the mortgage

Cons

I came in through an acquisition (Broadcom had paid a *ridiculous* amount of money for my company, we were all in shock (good shock) when it happened). I was easily able to negotiate for title of Principal Engineer. I spent around a year at Broadcom, cashing humongous pay checks (due to RSU's from acquisition), until I got super bored & found that my career was going down the toilet. I left for a much better company and I am happy. Promotions seem to be very rare and highly political. Even if you come up with innovative stuff you are not rewarded well. Talent level is very low compared to other companies and industries (think Google, Apple). Ton of people who don't do any work and simply have fun, which saps your motivation too. If you are a fresh grad, get the hell outta this place. Actually get the hell outta this industry.

Cons

Expectation is to be a Workaholic Unrealistic Deadlines & Toooo Much of Artificial Pressure More like a Chinese company...Less importance for quality and more importance for schedule No Respect for Employees!! HR is a joke!!!NO HR Policies or Code of conduct applicable for management!! No FEEDBACK MECHANISM FOR MANAGERS.. Treats employs like machines not humans & by default weekends are considered to be working days Spoils the work life balance.. No Team lunch or No Team outing ..!!!
