Broadcom has been a leader in almost all the areas it competes in. Senior management has been superior in strategy and execution. Great compensation including decent salary and generous stock awards.

Cons

Lack of systematic professional development and training could be a drag for such a company with big growth potential.

Pros

exposure to emerging technologies, if you get into the right team at the right time the opportunities do exist learning to do a lot more with much less there are some very dedicated people at this company, mature and experienced, first line and middle management are very skilled technically the range of products this company produces could be enough to keep the right person busy for an entire lifespan

Cons

if you aren't clique, you're stuck, with poor career advancement programs, you can find yourself unable to succeed there is a contingent of non-technical upper management who are almost completely out of touch with the real and every day requirements of getting the products ready for the market small company mindset is a large problem, but the paranoia element is pervasive

it is a place making all kind of comm ICs. if that fits your major.

Cons

the company has tried so hard to keep the growth and randomly bidding on non-existing opportunities, so it is pretty painful to see there is non long-term benefit (options still worthless after 5 years working here)
