Pros

Brocade had a rock solid product, really great people, and the best work/life balance I've ever experienced in Sales. It was highly respected among its customers and generally treated people like actual human beings. Before Broadcom, this is...

Cons

Broadcom doesn't understand a Sales organization. They shoved an absolutely horrible, high risk plan to the sales team, resulting in most reps leaving. They also got rid of all of the tools that reps used, like salesforce.com (which had years of customer data and selling insights in it) just to save a buck. Broadcom (Avago, really) seems to suck the soul out of any company it buys and they are doing that to Brocade as well. New CEO only cares about numbers, not people in any way.

Pays well, but toxic environment

Pros

Good pay, equity, 401k match, etc. Hock continues to run a lean and successful business.

Cons

Toxic environment. It's not how good you are at your job, it's more who do you know. It's an environment of fear and intimidation. There was lots of back stabbing. I've seen managers listening on calls when one colleague was aware of the manager on the line. I've seen managers yell at direct reports. I would recommend you put your head down, work, avoid the negativity and toxic environment and collect your check.
