They treat you very well at Broadcom. Great salary and equity compensation. Great people that you will be working with.

Cons

Promotions at Broadcom is hard to get. You can be hired into a senior position but don't expect to move into one with any ease.

Pros

Challenging work environment. Very talented group of engineers to work with. Good salary and benefits.

Cons

Overly aggressive project schedules. So aggressive that the balance between work and home life is frequently not in balance. 10 hour work days and weekends is common, topped off by constantly being told by management that you are not meeting deadlines; deadlines created by management that were known to be unreasonable in the first place. Also, when you have an entire team of engineers that are reccommending solutions to serious problems, and those reccomendations are frequently dismissed and ignored by management, you know you have a serious management problem.

The company really does try to penetrate new markets.

Cons

The company aims for high volume markets by targeting the low tier. In this regard you don't really get to work on the latest technology, and Broadcom is always one step behind the industry leader.
