      Pros

      Exposure to leading edge software technologies is great. They are not cowed by the lawyers afraid to touch open source software, rather they embrace it wherever possible. This is a great company to gain experience and exposure. They also allow me time off when needed without a lot of hoopla. I appreciate this, and it makes it difficult to ponder leaving. They also give me 6 weeks vacation after 4 years service, even if they do forced shutdowns at July 4th and Christmas.

      Cons

      Not much peer respect compared to other companies. The bonus/profit sharing plan pits engineers against team leads, and against managers. All are vying for the same bucket of dollars. So you can guess who gets the higher percentages on payouts.

      Pros

      You are expected to possess technical excellence in the SAN field and we are a cutting edge leader in the industry. You cannot skate by for you will be discovered. The bonuses are consistent and generous. The entire compensation package is very competitive. You will not feel underpaid.

      Cons

      The engineering practices are not modern. The schedule rules and it does not get extended. Your work hours do. When you are on a hot project you are expected to work nights and weekends. It is an unspoken rule that is enforced by peer pressure.

      Not much to set Brocade apart from the pack of companies in the Valley, but they pay well.

      Pros

      Salary. Very generous company and operates on a reasonable budget. Not a lot of second guessing that I have noticed. Management tends to be very project focused and very big on excecution.

      Cons

      the company is struggling to grow from a mid-size to large company, and in doing so it's adopting large-company practices and policies too soon. Administrative overhead is going to become a problem and a hinderance if they don't choose well.
