      Best place if you do physics, usually not so good if you are software engineer

      Pros

      Most fundamental physics topics explored there. You can work with some ofthe brightest minds in the field. Very nice lab working environment with plenty of oxygen for development of ideas. Nice multicultural environment

      Cons

      Not at front end if you are software engineer. Code of physicists is poor and not many good programmers around for personal development.

      Pros

      International work environment Interesting professional context, multidisciplinary activities Bright brains, but not only! Great colleagues include technicians, engineers, admin staff, librarians, firefighters, and a lot of young fellows and students. Relaxed atmosphere, feels like academia

      Cons

      Contract policy isn't always supportive of indefinite hires (limited duration contracts are still better than in most international organisations though)

      - High costs of life, especially for students - Necessity of home institution support from country of origin - Unequal opportunities due to complex relationships between home institutes and CERN
