Pros

Canva is incredible - and I’m not just talking about the product. The best part about working at Canva isn’t just championing an amazing app on the verge of changing the design world, it’s the collaborative, supportive, and happy working environment. Canva isn’t your average corporation, it’s a start-up (and a small one at that). What we’ve got is a 100-person team (split between Sydney and Manila) catering to the design needs of 10-12 million people worldwide. Once you join the company, you basically jump right into work, but the beauty of it is having the support of everyone around you. Whether it’s by lending a hand, taking over some tasks, or simply providing feedback, everyone sets each other up for success. It’s the people that truly make a difference. Impending deadlines are practically a constant but the one thing I’ve noticed about working at Canva is that no matter how busy everyone gets, you are still surrounded by incredibly hardworking, happy people who genuinely love what they do, and find the fun in doing it.

Cons

Miscommunication at times. Not uncommon in any workplace and easily resolved. Management has done an awesome job in keeping everyone looped in on all the goings-on, and giving everyone a clearer idea of the bigger picture.

Pros

I have been freelance content contributor with Canva (predominately with the Design School team) for 1.5 years. Truthfully, I can't sing enough praise for my experience in that time. - Canva has given me a foot in the door to my career in so many ways, giving my content an amazing platform to be shown on and unlocking so many doors. - I have been given so many opportunities to extend my portfolio and range of skills, even as a remote freelancer. I have never felt bored or tired with the content/work assigned to me and I am proud of the content I have helped produce in my time at Canva. - I feel I have learned (and continue to learn) an incredible amount through Canva, and again, as a remote freelancer I didn't expect that at all. I have developed valuable skills and knowledge over my time. - I have never felt undervalued as a freelancer, I have always been made to feel like a part of the team. - The people I have worked with all seem honestly dedicated and excited about growing Canva as a platform, and that excitement is contagious and very motivating. - I have never had an interaction with any staff member at Canva that even approached unpleasant. Communications have always been professional, prompt, and very friendly. Canva is very much a 'what you see is what you get' company in many regards – they present themselves as a passionate and driven community because that's truthfully what they are.

Cons

- Freelance briefs can sometimes be a little vague, but nothing that a quick email doesn't solve.
