Pros

The people are great, I never met a fellow employee who was mean to me, even when things were crazy and we were all stressed out. In the call center you also get sales bonuses, but you have to sell a lot to make a difference. You also get retention bonuses simply for not quitting before you're six month anniversary, and there is a reason for that...

Cons

I can't speak for other positions, but the Call Center can be really stressful. The volume is way higher than you think, because what you may not know when you first apply is that you will not just be answering calls for Central Bank of Boone County, as it's called now, but for the entire holding company. The training program is good, but be prepared to know everything about 12 different banks. If you're not up to sitting in one position all day long, answering call after call with no time in between to so much as sneeze let alone do any of the research or additional training you will be expected to do, then consider looking for a different position.

Pros

Company has many good values. Good training and professional experience. Lower management is usually really great. Will schedule around you attending college.

Cons

You can barely afford the professional clothing you expected to wear on your back if you work here. Especially if you are in any of the introductory jobs that still have very high expectations of your capabilities and ability to hustle. You can easily make the same pay at McDonald's, but that won't look as good on a resume. Upper management has no idea how much they expect people to do while barely paying them. Your yearly raise will be a few cents on the dollar even if you exceed expectations. Many branches are understaffed, and even though employees will make anonymous suggestions asking for more help, and the upper management lightly acknowledge them and then skim over the problem.

Good stepping stone for recent grads.

Pros

Overall, it is a great way to gain experience in the banking industry. Bankers hours and federal holidays are also a plus. There are a variety of departments to work in.

Cons

Low pay in comparison to other companies in the area, causing high turnover. In my department, employees are at times treated as second class workers. Forced to work when other BCNB branch employees are off with pay (inclement weather, etc.)
