Outstanding students and colleagues. Relative freedom to teach. Excellent research support. Good salaries for academics, staff less so.

Cons

Higher management are poor communicators and tend to adopt an unnecessary corporatist style in language and actions. The working environment can for some verge on the toxic. Too many decisions made by a board of trustees with no everyday connection to the university. Difficult to influence or approach higher management.
