Pros

Such a big company that you can re-invent yourself every few years if you choose. Internal transfers are encouraged and learning on the job is highly encouraged. Most VP's support education and Cisco paid for my MBA. Cisco has diversified away from core routing and switching, ensuring that we are not at the mercy of the cyclical health of individual market segments.

Cons

We have grown so large that promotions have become extremely hard to get. What used to be an 18-24 month promotion cycle is now about 36-48 months, at best.

Cons

lack work life balance. Everyone is buried under work. Cisco culture overall is great, but there are bad pockets too.
