Pros

Having the opportunity to work with smart intelligent people, who are equally as devoted to make the product better is a always a pleasure. Working in a DevOps culture, owning the product end to end and making sure its scalable and performant all come with challenges but good challenges to have.

Cons

None that I can think of, been here just over 3 years and enjoying everyday of my work still. Not many people can say that.

Pros

Lots of really smart people, lots of different products and markets and generally on the cutting edge of enterprise networking. Decent salaries and great bonus program.

Cons

Hard to move up because of constant acquisitions (acquisitions always include more senior talent) Hard to innovate because of constant acquisitions (typically buys into new technology/products/markets rather than developing from within) Too much internal competition - there always seem to be at least 3 groups duplicating whatever you are doing - creating lots of dead ends and uncertainty - are you on the winning team or just spinning your wheels until the next re-org or the next round of layoffs? Engineering jobs are being sent overseas - strictly based on financials. Workforce globalization is eroding opportunities in the US. Global teams and lack of appreciation for time zones create massive communication inefficiencies - Forget about work life balance as global teams and round the clock video conferencing occupy more of your early mornings and late nights. - Expect to have hundreds of emails waiting for you every morning - Simple decisions require committees, tons of email and meetings to resolve
