      Pros

      Name recognition. Leader in industry. My managers were cordial, but I often felt alienated compared to my Indian peers. It was discouraging feeling.

      Cons

      Not diverse. If you're not from India and Middle East, you excluded from promotions and favoritism. Managers are not properly trained. If you're technically strong and want to be a manager, you will be one. That should not be the only prerequisite to lead a team. Proper management training is a must.

      Pros

      Great opportunity to move around if you were inclined In the early days the entrepreneurial spirit was inspiring Great people - many of whom are dedicated to doing the right thing.

      Cons

      Senior management have lost the plot. Cisco's culture "legend" is not what it is today. Vague corporate goals lead to duplication of effort, politics and individual interpretation of what is important for the organization to reach it's goals. Too many directors with no one reporting to them.

      Pros

      Probably an above average compensation package. They recruit directly from college. Many colleges during good economic times, though only a handful during recessions such as 2009 and going into 2010. Large employee network, even if the diversity is stunted (see Cons).

      Cons

      Lack of diversity. A random walk around engineering groups seems like they are 3/4 or more south asian. Career advancement is probably typical for large organizations: almost nil and mostly political. Because the customers are mostly enterprise, the work will be mostly performance and cost driven and you rarely have room for feature creativity.
