Pros

Nice campus, building, gyms, etc

Cons

You're walking into a dead end job. After 10 years of great reviews, ive had 1 small raise. Cisco's plan is to offshore 85% of their workforce to india/china. If youre american, they are just hoping you will leave one day without having to lay you off. They will take all the free hours you are dumb enough to give them. 50+ hour weeks are pretty common

Pros

- Good location (San Jose) - Potential to work on some neat high-end and high-reliability systems (though you might just work on some lame internal tool that shouldn't exist in the first place) - Good, cheap food at cafes - Free coffee and soda (though I heard this changed?)

Cons

- Company isn't very efficient. There seemed to be many groups working on the same exact thing. Or, there were groups working on some internal tool which really shouldn't exist since there was an existing solution (e.g., open source product). - Many employees aren't very nice. The small things - not saying hi, for example - add up. - Lots of needless bureaucracy. There are so many levels of managers and then so many different groups that change all the time. - Over reliance on contractors. - Not very diverse.. almost discriminatory in some ways: Everyone in CDO was so very similar. - Not very innovative

Pros

The salary and compensation package are good. The company has an incredibly good reputation on the market (although once you are in the company and if it's not your first job, and you have known better companies, you wonder from where this reputation is coming). So it looks good on your CV.

Cons

No work-private life balance. You are supposed to be connected 24/7, also during your holidays, weekends, sickness leaves, evenings, etc... I have worked in other companies previously (international large companies as well within the ICT sector) so I can compare. Also, there is no "work hard and have fun" spirit. No parties organized for the employees (OK now it's economic crisis but I understood Cisco was not that fun place to work before the crisis either). Nobody having a chat in the coffee corner - so hard everyone is occupied. The workload is huge. Everyone is doing a job that is meant easily for 2 people. At lunch everyone is talking excelusively about work. I also feel that I learn nothing new compared to my previous jobs and that is not a positive sign. The maddeness of the forecast: you have to do it sunday, wednesday and friday !
