Pros

large company with a lot of growth potential. I am on the bottem rung right now but i totally believe I can work my way up to a well paying job here. Management seems to respect us. I do get to see actual benefits from my position on the rest of the company. A lot of career mobility once you reach some of the higher levels within the company.

Cons

so large of a company that you can get lost amid the people here. A lot of process to get things done. It is frustrating to see the unneccesary expenses that this company has.

Pros

There are many different career paths, and managment for the most part is good about allowing employess to move around to gain experience. There are opportunities to move geographically as well. There are some divisions that are definitely more pleasant to work in than others (the more highly regarded areas like Collections, Risk, Customer Service). If you are mobile, most people should be able to find a job that they enjoy doing for awhile, while adding tremendously to your resume.

Cons

Company still operates in silos (every division has its own finance group, technology group, hr, etc). Any attempt to consolidate functiions and create synergies is met with resistance. There is no accountability and senior execs can be unreasonably demanding, expecting instant results on projects that might take weeks or months. This appears to be the result of Sr VPs moving laterally to gain experience, and then instantly trying to 'make their mark' before understanding the business. High performers generally bear the burden of handling the difficult or unwanted side projects/issues that crop up during the course of regular business (projects that don't get recognition, but need to be done for the business to operate efficiently).

Pros

Citigroup has come a long way in the last few years. Work Life Balance is amazing.

Cons

Compensation. Perfect ratings year over year over year along with an MBA are not enough to get a decent merit increase. I'd be better off leaving and then coming back in 1-2 years. My salary would come close to doubling by being an external applicant.
