Pros

Good benefits - pension, annual leave, sick pay Ability to work from home when required Some flexibility around working hours

Cons

IT project work is mainly off-shore. Belfast office only seems to get some code updates to work on. Not good if you want to have a career or progress a career in IT. Poor management Long and late hours expected to get work done - but no compensation for this Sterile workplace - factory feel People quite tense and under stress and pressure

Big Name is Deceiving

Pros

This company has good benefits. You'll get plenty of paid time off, and depending on your department, you can work remotely a lot of the time, which can helpful for work-life balance. The local site really likes doing events, like for outdoor tailgating and Halloween, which can be fun and are a nice excuse to get away from your desk.

Cons

If you have management on site, you'll be lucky. Most managers are located in New Jersey or NYC, and you'll never see them. This results in a disconnect. They may forget about you, see you as numbers, see you as an inconvenience, or all three. Teams may be scattered too, which makes this issue worse. There is a severe lack of training. Management often expects you to understand complex internal systems the first time you look at them. They don't offer any training or documentation to help with this. They overload the senior employees with work since they won't trust their newer employees, so seniors can't help train either. Work-Life balance can be strained, especially if you have a highly international team. Management may also expect weekend work and refuse to give any comp for it. Mobility and raises are minimal. Don't expect it.
