Could be a great place to work, but...

Pros

Good manager & friendly team, at least at my store. Relatively ethical company. Feel part of the local community. Customer Team Leader is a varied role which makes work more interesting. Fast paced so shifts fly by, but see below.

Cons

Terrible IT makes keeping to the very tight task schedule difficult. IT is outsourced to India & the phone lines are terrible, so explaining what needs fixing can be a chore, as is getting it done. Tills constantly crashing is a long term problem that never gets solved. There's a fine line between 'fast paced' and under staffed, and the Co-op have crossed it. I enjoy a fast pace but constantly fire fighting & then getting sanctioned for not getting everything done to the standard you'd like to when it's physically impossible with only 2 members of staff on a shift can be soul destroying. Rotas often only appear a week in advance & shifts vary so organising your life is difficult. We are entitled to 2 15min paid breaks as well as the unpaid 30mins on a full shift, but never get them. I'm always too busy to stop anyway, but that shouldn't be the case when you are legally entitled to the breaks.
