Pros

Community work, fairtrade, team spirit, job is relatively straight forward.

Cons

Never ask for a payrise, never expect thanks, don't expect to stay in one store for too long- area managers can move you on a whim, don't expect deliveries to arrive on time or at all if the weather is too hot/cold/wet/snowy etc, you'll work with less than minimal staff under constant threat of cutting hours further, you'll have no say in what happens to your store during refits, be prepared to be dumped in a terrible store if the AM doesn't like you, expectation is far greater than you can ever attain....

Thankyou for your review. It's lovely to hear that you enjoy the community work and our ethic. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues wth your manager. Managers should be giving regular feedback to colleagues and supporting and developing them. If you have concerns about your development and the stores you are working in I'd advise that you raise these with your manager or next line manager if you feel like your Area Manager isn't supporting. If you need any additional support we have Employee Assistance Programme which is available 24-hours-a-day, 365 days a year if you need: confidential advice, support, counselling, whether it’s to do with work or not. ^Catherine

Pros

Easy work, good pay (although not as much as Aldi/Lidl), I had a great manager

Cons

Although it might seem great to train up in different things, it's rare you can become a Team Leader and even rarer to progress further. I found myself doing the job of a team leader but without the extra pay whilst the team leaders slacked.

Thankyou for your review. It's lovely to hear you enjoyed your time at our Co-op. I'm sorry to hear you felt like progression wasn't easy, I hope at the time you raised your concerns with your manager so you could both work on a progression development plan for your career and time at our Co-op. ^Catherine

Pros

Great history and unique purpose, flexible working, HQ and modern facilities, lots of energy and enthusiasm to thrive

Cons

Too many senior leaders trying to justify role and politics. Organisation is Co-operative in name but in reality, tension with different business units treating each other as 3rd parties.

Thankyou for your review. I'm sorry to hear you did not enjoy your time at our Co-op and would not recommend it to others. Our Co-op has been through a number of changes as we have been rebuilding it over the past few years which has meant there have bee some restructures, I'm sorry to hear you did not like the change. Regarding colleague feedback, we have a whole programme of work on feedback that continue throughout the year, all of which is anonymous. ^Catherine
