Pros

Good salary, easy(ish) job. When you get to know your way around the stores, things become easier.

Cons

Unpredictable work pattern. Told to assume every day will be a 12.45 and then told my hours on the day of my shift. Not sure that it's legal. They want to change the contract so that you will be planned on a minimum of 10.45 each day. If you work those hours it breaks your working time regulations. They get around that by sending you home early from runs throughout the week. You will go home up to 3 hours early but usually about an hour early some days if you're lucky, depends on how quickly you get your job done. Unpredictable because you never know if you'll be home in time to see your family or if you will be out all evening.

Thank you for your review and feedback. We understand your frustration and confusion. We’ve asked for clarity around your concerns, and we’ve been advised that negotiations on changes to contracts are still underway. Co-op will continue to remain compliant with the Working Time Directive. The confusion may arise from the discussion between your contracted hours versus your shift availability. We recommend that you speak with your union representative and your Transport Manager at West Thurrock for further information on what these proposals mean for you.

We're sorry that you feel this way. Co-op has successfully campaigned to change the law in making violent crime against retail workers a stand alone offence. We know that more needs to be done and continue to invest in resources and technology to keep our colleagues and customers safe. If there is a specific incident or concern that you would like us to look into then please contact us using the former colleague contact form at colleagues.coop.co.uk/contacts
