Pros

- The colleagues are very ok, this is a common thing in the IT industry. - I had a good team lead - I was paid on time.

Cons

-Flexible hours are for the clients not for the employee, if the client is US based and sets a meeting at 6:30 pm (and this was my case), you have to attend and of course you can't leave at 5:30 pm even though you came at 8:30 am. Most of their clients are US based ... but they tell you that you only have to work 8 hours a day (+1 hour lunch break) and then you can leave between 5:30 - 7:30 pm (this is also written in the working contract and they don't respect it). I have asked three persons about the working schedule before getting hired (the recruiter, the hr admin and the community manager) all said the program is flexible (5:30-7:30 pm can leave), then the team lead exposed to me the reality and told me that the meetings are ending usually at 6:30-7:00 pm. - The technologies used are not as new as they market or tell you at the interview (Coffee Script is an example). - After accepting the offer but before signing the contract they contacted me and request to have a call with the client, even though I was still working for the previous company, in about three weeks (even then I was still working for the previous company). Meanwhile I had to prepare for the technical interview with the client, this was not told before accepting their offer. - They promise many things but when you get there they don't respect all of their promises. They tell you everything you want to hear at the interview with the community manager in order to get you hired. - Once the community manager scheduled a meeting in the kitchen (since they don't have big enough meeting rooms) at around 11:30 am, and it lasted until 1:00 pm, when other colleagues were coming to eat they couldn't and the door was closed in order to let other know that it's occupied. - They told me that they are implementing work from home. This is a joke after you start working there. - I received a chair that couldn't have the seat lifted ... but it's true they changed it after one month with a better one. - I found a dead bug on the floor and it stayed there for more than a week

Cognizant Response

Dear former colleague, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Cognizant Softvision. We are very sorry to hear that your short journey with us was not the best for you. We are continuously working on improving and taking steps into making our company a pleasant working environment for all colleagues. This is one of the reasons we have implemented flexible hours and work from home policies. It may be the case that sometimes this is not always possible to accommodate, depending on our our clients' demands and schedule. For such instances, we encourage all colleagues to approach their team leads or local managers to find a solution that works best for them. We try to adapt to our colleagues' needs and expectations and this is why we encourage open communication. As it was the case for you, some employment processes are indeed conditioned by client interviews, and for these instances, we ask our future colleagues to also have an additional interview directly with the client. We are sorry if this was not mentioned to you in the hiring process. Even though we may not always use the latest technologies, we make sure that our colleagues always have something new and exciting to learn either from working on a specific challenging project or from the experience of our more senior people. For all the logistic issues the administrative department is here to help and to assist all colleagues when needed.

Pros

The company is good to work. The team has good technical guys, they are very much supportive.

Cons

After Cognizant taken over the company don't have projects and they lost all the projects. They are forcing to get prepare only on one client and Bangalore management treat us if we don’t clear client round, we need to look out our self. We are working past 1.5 years and they don’t give the values.

Pros

Large company with big aspirations, a lot of potential

Cons

Strong Indian subculture with undefined and vague reward practices, huge loss of leadership capability after a VSP caused a payoff exodus, not as customer focused as they should be, too margin focused.
