Pros

Good paymasters compare with other Indian firms operate business in US

Cons

I consider this company as a stop gap , but never be the company for professional growth. You come across ruthless BDM's, some time morons who can not value to technical expertise of the consultants, but ready to lick the shoes of the clients. But feel there would be more professional way of dealing clients. One point we should mention about is that dirty politics and incompetent operations team who do not even take rational decisions on deployment of resources on assignments. There will be lot to mention but in nutshell its just not the right company for career.

Pros

If you are out of work, cant find anything else and need a job..

Cons

This is primarily a testing shop. Most companies see Cognizant as experienced testers regardless of your experience or background. The executives try to sell other services for Cognizant but are rarely successful due to the company's perception. Most employees in US are managers and above. Testers are frequently brought in from India

Pros

Its a big company, fast growing, has branches in different places in India and onsite locations in good number of countries. So if you want, you have good number of chances of being posted in a different location for different projects. Having 'CTS' on your resume is definitely a plus.

Cons

As a fresher , you will be posted in a technology in which they have a vacancy , not the one you want to work in. This is a BIG MINUS. The training quality is bad. No care is taken on the quality of training being given. Once you are put in a technology, it is not at all easy to change technology without compromising your career growth. Lots of office politics in the company. You dont get promotion when you deserve Or just because you worked hard and contributed a lot. The reason you will get promoted is - 1)by accident, 2)because you are good in buttering everyone, 3)you work more than a donkey and don't care about your health at all and do well in 10 roles at the same time. You will hardly have any personal time. Having said that , I should say there are certain projects where people hardly have work. If one disagrees with my comments, it means that he/she is either a workaholic or a person who is working in one of the rare normal-work projects.
