HEADS UP - There will be NO commission, only bagels. I know it says commission in the offer letter, but, that's a lie. A real lie.
Let's start :)
1) There are 2 teams,
West and East. If you are a part of west team, prepare yourself to make cold calls everyday and feel yourself more unproductive (this is your job), about 25 to 30. ( when you are newbie, your beloved supervisor will say you don't have anything to do so you better make 35 calls a day, oh and he will threaten you to pull up your calls every morning).
If you are a member of east team you are fine. You can make 20 dials (not calls) a week and you will be fine. And almost every Friday, you can join the peeps who sell tacos, hamburgers, hot dogs , get paid full day and do nothing related with the job, while West team is being forced to make more cold calls. (hey that's your job)
2) There will be panel reviews every month. Which makes perfect sense and necessary, since the department is going down. However you will be accused as liar, cheater and fraud if you are a member of West team. East team doesn't seem like having a problem in any means. They are having fun in those panel reviews, just like their taco sales almost every Friday.
These panel reviews will be one on one with your supervisor, and they will be asking you every detailed information about "your customers", however your customers are not even your customers... They are usually sent by other sales department and they pop up out of the blue in your performance report..
There are no right answers for those questions, because as long as you answer them , there are more coming until you say you don't know.
-who is this customer?
-what are they doing?
-where do they ship from?
-how much?
-how frequent?
-what is the commodity?
etc etc etc...
Of course you need to know your customers as a sales person and you will happen to know many of them in time, however they expect you to remember every detail of 250 300 accounts without using your computer or something , and some of them you didn't even see their name.. But still you HAVE to know them.... Just like high school right ? I know.
I simply refused to do this, because what they are doing to you is "Psychological Violence", and makes you hate your life for real. So I simply refused, and decided to leave this place ASAP.
Of course they think they are making you feel unsafe and "work harder". Management doesn't know a thing about employee psychology and EQUITY THEORY OF MOTIVATION. Which is pretty sad.
ie: Every Monday there will be "SCORE CARD" on the screen which shows all the numbers of people, and you will see while everybody in west team makes 25+ calls a day, the majority of the east team make 20-50 dials a week. (DIALS not CALLS)
And management still keeps this score card there every week, I guess they don't even have any idea how this affects employees in west team, they are that bad at management and psychology. This MUST be a joke...
ie2: when a person from East Team wins 5 new customers with 30-50 dials in a week (which is an obvious cheating) no one questioning this from the management.
3) Everything can be changed in one day (except your salary). New KPIs, new work loads ets.. When some other department messes up, they will make you fix and do the data entering etc. And they will call it "SPECIAL PROJECT" lol, never except anything coming from Management starting with "SPECIAL". I know people wanted to die because of these projects.
4) You will be complaining about your life eventually, and will become unhappy, whining person. And your friends and family will realize this change. Unfortunate.
5) Micromanagement and there is this black board with numbers, you are expected to put your activities (calls) there like a race horse every day.
6) There will be no commission, some of the people in East team may be doing commission probably because of the TRADE ROUTE they have. Commission is a TABOO here.
7) There will be no raise in salary. Guess why, Because they consider people making commissions. I saw a commission check of 3 Dollars (after Tax lol), Yes It is an insult.
8) Work place mobbing and direct/indirect threats.
9) Psychological violence.
10) Customers hate you when you call them. Because you call them without a reason and ask them questions, and guess what, they hang up on you.
-You are better than this place. Go sell lemons at Flea Market.
- no place to work, you are disposable, they don't train you to be better next year.
- Every day is same here.
I mean I don't know, I don't even talk about right now anymore. You are way more better than this place, especially if you went to college, and have a degree. There are many opportunities out there with a way better pay, good management that you can learn from, and respectful. Don't let the big name fool you, you will hate your life and even the colors of red and yellow after 6 months.
