Pros

Support for flexible work schedule. Management very supportive of working from home when need be. And the time off plan is the best I've seen. With the automatic week off for Christmas, and vacation is awarded at the beginning of the year instead of being earned. And as a whole, Dell pay the higher grades very well.

Cons

Instability and constant threat of layoffs make it hard to get comfortable. With the high turnover, morale is down. If you are looking for involvement with actual software development it's not the place to be. The business sector is much more stable. With flattening of management layers, the opportunity for career advancement is extremely limited and now even more competitive. Recognition for job well done is absolutely there, but I'm guessing in part because of the economic downturn, monetary compensation is not there.

Pros

Great reputation and they pay is very competitive. Intern program was very appealing, but no real opportunities to learn and grow. Benefits are pretty good too. Work/life balance could be better, but is ok. You can work from home when necessary.

Cons

No respect for young workers and poor management. My team was moved from building to building every 6 months. Very poor female role models in management. Employees are very worried about job security so sharing of knowledge is low. Transferring to different teams is not really encouraged, but used to entice new employees. Employee morale has been pretty low.

Pros

Company believes in its employees, and is committed to developing it's people. Michael Dell continues to passionately drive the company towards his vision.

Cons

I am not clear Michael's vision will guarantee success. Or even what exactly we are going to do to win and differentiate ourselves against the competition. Strategy has become unclear. Big 5 initiatives seems to be "do everything". We seem to be unclear what we want to be. Consumer group is targetting "brand lust". But honestly i haven't seen anything vaguely worth lusting over.
