      Pros

      Global headquarters, tons of opportunities to move up within Austin. You need to be driven to improve your career however as the culture does not involve developing talent.

      Cons

      Little attention paid to building a positive culture. Need to focus more and attracting and retaining top talent. HR tenure requirements are an issue.

      Pros

      Dell hires top talent, pays well, offers challenging opportunities and has great people to work with. Dell is truly a global company, offering unlimited opportunities in many functions and geographical segments. Finally, Dell believes in rotating jobs frequently, creating movement at all levels and allowing employees to expands their careers broadly.

      Cons

      Like many Fortune 500 companies, Dell is in a perpetual state of reorganizations and ever changing strategic directions, causing chaos on the front lines. Also, Dell has been on a "hire-and-fire" roller coaster over the last seven years, making everyone very nervous about their jobs and a protectionist mentality as management protects their turf.

      Pros

      Continued and increasing scope and responsibility changes are the norm. The caliber of team mates you work with is impressive with many of the team mates returning for the second or third time at Dell after looking into other companies.

      Cons

      Dell struggles to provide growth opportunities in Austin since the mix of employees are moving over seas and to other states within the US as the company shifts to non product based solution offerings.
