Pros

Wonderful co-workers! Discover offers a great chance to work with a very diverse, well educated workforce and there is a minimum of politics. Very straight forward atmosphere where pretty much everyone gets along and works together.

Cons

I hired in to a position that I was very over qualified for. That is great, except when management saw what I was capable of, they gave me Director level responsibilities without the title, pay or recognition. Discover makes everyone stay in grade for certain periods of time, despite your credentials or performance. As a result, they lose a lot of their top performers which is a shame.

Pros

Good Benefits; casual dress code; work from home policy; generous PTO upon hire; gym for fee; nice campus.

Cons

Below market pay; operations run in silos; political in nature when it comes to advancement; difficult commute if you do not live nearby. There is a disconnect between stated work life balance and the true expectation.

Poor Management

Pros

Very diverse, some departments have the ability for growth, a lot of the employees are friendly and good to work with. Vendor contact personnel are great and work to have their contractors succeed.

Cons

Upper management does not care about the individuals below them. The fakeness of most management teams is down right horrible. The chances of actually moving up in the company is close to zero percent unless you know someone who knows someone. And they hire managers who have no qualifications for the position given to them. Very unprofessional and extremely bias against anyone with disabilities or differences than others in their department. Would rate zero stars if allowed.
