Business Outlook

Pros

Takes care of employees. Pays well. Lots of engagement practices. Top notch clientele. Managers are genuine and approachable. Well established infrastructure. No such micro management. Encourage positivity. Clear organisation structure.

Cons

High level politics is present but abstract for any L1/2/3 employees. Quality of work hugely depends upon project. Dominance of Belarus people in project; sitting mostly on onsite locations. Client interviews goes tougher than actual EPAM interview.

Thank you for response and suggestions. We believe in open, transparent and inclusive culture and therefore working towards building non-hierarchical and empowered teams. We constantly sensitise Managers/Leaders to ensure there is no politics/bias in the team. Even our people practices like performance appraisal, promotion and learning process is Manager agnostic. All our practices are linked to performance that avoids bias. As part of any merger process, support is extended by parent organisation to build the best practices and culture. But India is now become self sustainable to the extent we started a project that grew from 0 to more than 150 with limited support from other regions. And EPAM being a global organisation exchange of talent between geos is common where people from India are driving projects in other geos. In fact, there are quite a few projects that moved to India and many projects started in India. EPAM differentiates itself because of its delivery and Engineering excellence culture. Therefore interview by project/client is minimum requirement that ensures right fitment that leads to successful delivery. We provide adequate support to associates through incubation labs/learning/mentoring that will help in acquire the requisite skill and fill the gaps. Being a services organisation, we hire based on the business pipeline and therefore hiring to bench becomes necessity as we cannot rely on JIT hiring to start the projects. However, lot of hiring happens directly into the projects also. People hired onto bench goes through practise on-boarding and learning initiatives to become ready for any assignment.

Pros

This review is based on my experience with EPAM India for past 1.5 yrs. - Opportunities to work with the latest technologies(if placed in a good project) - most of the projects use test automation & automation community is huge compared to other organizations - lots of training (internal & external) is provided to the employees - Free access to online training platform Lynda is provided - internal tools are built using cutting-edge technologies - HR team's initiatives like photography training/Foreign language training (French/Russia), Healthy You etc.,. are good - interview/recruiting process & promotion is one of its kind. Your manager has very less influence on your rating. - most of the employees do coding (even managers), and the organization itself follows Engineering Excellence program - paymaster for the new hires

Cons

- very fewer projects being operated from India - there is always a differentiation between India team and global team - HR policies need to be enhanced for Insurance policies & Other employee benefits - Continuous hire and fire (less security for the job!)

We are working with global teams to bring more projects and clients to India. We have created practise structure that is aligned with global practices to ensure right staffing into projects, help associates with requisite skills that are needed in the project, help in reskilling and upskilling associates. Also, a BD team is working on proactively engaging with business teams in Americas and Europe to bring more clients. This year, we have added marquee clients from Telecom, Insurance, Banking and Media industry that has large potential for growth.
