Pros

High demand for this type of work and for this industry. This is one of best highlights for this type of career. You will never get outdated so to speak.

Cons

For this team in particular, bad management. High turnover rate due to bad upper management. Clueless about promotion scheme (you could argue that it is political but they have no shame hiding about this). Boring work most of the time.

Psychopaths and Sycophants

Pros

Good on CV Nice offices in good locations

Cons

Some partners are corporate psychopaths. Nice to your face, but I have seen them enjoy destroying people behind their backs. No open communication - all partners will ignore the facts when it would not align with their story. HR are just sycophants. Employee turnover is over 30% in my area for a reason. Most people are just not happy and would leave as soon as they could. I suspect some partners are depressed too but as they are raking in the big bucks they will not leave unless forced out. Hours can be long at times as with all consulting companies. I was fortunate to get in on a good rate and got some small pay raises and a smaller bonus, but now I am looking at moving even if it means a pay cut. It really is not worth staying. Partner profit is king, everything is geared towards making them money. Even the flexibility, diversity, inclusiveness push is geared towards bringing in more people to replace all those heading out the door. They spend a lot on internal marketing to employees and externally to potential hires. It amazes me that there is still this general impression that EY is a great place to work, even with so many people leaving.

Pros

You get great exposure to different companies, people, locations, and the corporate world will value your experience. Great resume builder.

Cons

The culture is more concerned with its employees being at their desks 12 hours a day than efficiency (because they usually bill hourly). If you can be efficient, your manager will be more concerned with you checking boxes than employing critical or creative thought. They preach transparency, but the old boys club politics allowed them to "hold me back" a year even though my ratings were above average, prompting me to leave (which is what they wanted).
