Pros

Experience look decent on resume and if you're lucky enough to have a good manager or SLT in charge of your department, can insulate you a little from the generally toxic and overly politic culture for a while

Cons

Where do I start? Certain SLT in charge take the whole narcissistic Napoleon complex to the next level. Actively foster a culture of micro-managing and toxic environment yet when it comes to actual leadership skills, lack any sort of charisma, emotional intelligence and honestly couldn't lead his way out of a wet paper bag. The sad thing is most of the people in and out of the department are well aware of the reputation and either suffer from serious case of Stockholm syndrome by acknowledging the flaws by make excuses such as "but he is so smart" to gaslight you that the abrasive behaviors to others are acceptable or perhaps just simply too afraid to speak up knowing HR are absolutely worthless when it comes to holding SLT and ELT accountable. On top of that, after creating a hostile tense working environment and let go of loyal seasoned employees that most respected out of spite. The reward of that is for him to join his buddy in charge of TMTT to spread that toxic culture all over again. The narcissism doesn’t stop there, the grandiose of self-importance was on full display when during a pandemic invited the team to celebrate his own departure dinner in person at the risk of Covid19 exposure. It’s truly shocking how much some of the SLT could careless about the mental and actual health of their employees. This is not really a surprise when you read some of the previous reviews on how Edwards dealt with the current health crisis by bringing people back early in a very callous way just to encourage “casual encounter” with your fellow co-workers. Even if you’re lucky enough to not have a toxic SLT or manager in charge, soon or later you will come across the extremely political and toxic culture within Edwards. ELTs are treated like gods and most people in the organization walk on eggshell when it comes time to present to leadership. One particular ELT is known to ask questions that often-left others feeling vulnerable and inferior so guess what the strategy is when dealing with him? Pre-emptive strike on the whack a mole questioning from the ELT by making sure you don’t present anything that would prompt follow up questions. Talk about fostering a not so creative environment, definitely not a place that will tolerate minor mistakes or questions as part of the collaborative learning process. Couple that with complete lack of respect for any work life balance. Many are known to work until midnight and weekends just to prepare for presentation back-to-back that often time do nothing more than to follow some bureaucratic review to satisfy the need of SLT/ELT. When you’re not doing that, you will probably still be busy working outside of office hours to cover for the lack of resources/training in your department. The only counter point to address the concern is either by telling you “It’s all about the patients!” so work harder or just simply remind you that you’re replaceable and your long hours and hard work don’t really contribute to much of the business anyway so you should feel lucky to have your job now.

Pros

Amenities, great people to work with, beautiful campus

Cons

I highly disagree with the efforts that have been made to "protect" workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The virus did not suddenly decide to go away, so it is baffling that a company that claims that they're ahead of the curve would put in place a reintegration plan when so many other companies are offering Work From Home until next year. Regardless of whether or not you believe in a second wave, as if the first wave got any better, the fact is that this company has time and time again sought after their own interests rather than the health of their workers. I'm not surprised that there is a high turnover rate at this company. You've given us countless polls asking us how we feel about coming into the office, and I think each time about 70 to 80 percent of those polls state that they feel uncomfortable, live with families, and want to conduct their work safely at home. No, I don't think we need to reintegrate in order to effectively "collaborate" and do our work with the teams we work with. We have shown that we can continue to be as or more productive while at home than we have ever been in the office.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand that the need for flexibility, especially in today’s current environment, is important to our employees. We are listening, and we want all our employees to know, that while we have made efforts to reintegrate employees onto campus at a capacity of 50% or fewer (to allow for physical distancing), we also continue to monitor the current COVID-19 environment and consult with trusted medical advisors, clinicians, and health authorities to update our learnings and guide our reintegration decisions. Ultimately, we want to ensure we are taking the best steps possible to keep our employees safe. We encourage employees to work with their direct managers or a Human Resources Business Partner to evaluate the best possible solution for their personal situations, as we’ve incorporated flexible work arrangements where needed.

Pros

Irvine campus and amenities Benefits Patient focus Cafeteria

Cons

Edwards prides itself in being an employer of choice yet every day I have to make a choice between my safety and my job unless I have a reason to work from home 100% of the time such as school age children or a medical condition. We’re not taking “good care” of our employees.

Thank you for sharing your experience. While you have appreciated our patient-focused culture, amenities, and benefits, we see that there is still opportunity for improvement. Regarding current safety measures, we want you to know that we are monitoring the current COVID-19 environment and consult with trusted medical advisors, clinicians, and health authorities to update our learnings and guide our reintegration decisions. Ultimately, we want to ensure we are taking the best steps possible to keep our employees safe. We also understand the need for flexibility in today’s current environment, and we have encouraged all employees to discuss their unique challenges with their manager. We encourage you to continue working with your direct manager or a Human Resources Business Partner to evaluate the best possible solution for your personal situation, including what flexible options may be available to you, and to learn how you can get in touch with one of our wellness ambassadors to ensure you feel safe while you are on campus.
