Avoid. Politics will deter your career path.

Pros

Good product pipeline, beautiful campus.

Cons

Extremely political in the THV business unit. Your career path will be determined by how much you suck up to management. You will notice that the leaders in your organizations are likely from this skill and personal relationships. There is very little process and organization to how development is managed. I was ridiculed for expressing interest in another team in the long term.

Pros

Edwards Lifesciences is generally a good company with good benefits. The people for the most part are pleasant. Microsoft teams. Decent place to start your career, but I wouldn't stay.

Cons

Overworked running way to lean (draper facility specifically). Being a quality engineer absolutely sucks - everyone wants to do R&D and they don't have that in the draper site (and no, the metals group is not R&D. Maybe process development at best). Management isn't great, but especially on the quality side. Full of technical-only people and not good with people development. Tons of engineers and even some managers have left from the start to end of covid and it's because promotions are slow, work load too high, and the work is incredibly boring. Moved on from quality and I'm shocked how much more interesting an engineering job can be. Surprised how Edwards draper has so much talent, but they struggle to retain it because the work is dry and uninteresting and everyone is just hoping they can roll into R&D or the very limited management positions. Training is weak.

Pros

Beautiful Campus and some genuine people. Health care benefits. You can work on as much as you can handle plus more because management never thinks long term and changes their minds abruptly!!

Cons

Illogical management decisions, toxic workplace, overarching KODs lead to corruption and illegal behavior (per the FDA) and are ignored when called out. There are good managers, I didn't experience working with them though and know multiple people that were hospitalized including myself due to workplace trauma. Their "management" approaches are oddly close to brainwashing tactics (breaking down the person and silencing any POV from the person being subjected to the "feedback") which explains why people pleasing employees are overworked to the point of mental breakdowns by management's outdated and non-psychology-based approaches. I went to the hospital due to a mental breakdown, asked for an investigation on previous emotional abuse and workplace harassment, and reported a product non-conformance within a two week span and was quickly terminated without a proper investigation (and was ignored when requested to be put on FMLA after speaking with a psychiatrist). HR threw several reasons at me to try to terminate me and ended at a protected reason (wrongful termination due to mental disability - temporary and acknowledged mental state). I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND anyone being subjected to this type of treatment at EW, to keep a detailed record of events that they go through, because no one inside will have your back.
