Pros

I really like the products. There are some really good people.

Cons

It is very political with some people much more supported. People have learned that any information given from below a VP may be overridden. Lots of scape-coating by management blaming the middle levels. Information is not shared so it seems random even if it should not have been a surprise.

Pros

Edwards always has new, cutting-edge products to work on. Compensation and benefits are very good. There are some really great people working there.

Cons

Edwards is all about corporate politics. Most of senior management subscribes to the philosophy that "perception is reality" -- and it's far easier to appear competent than to be competent. You will not do your career any favors by ever disagreeing with senior management. On product development teams, the schedule is written in stone and never in touch with reality. Once you get to mid-level, you are considered company property. Your supervisors will expect you to always be available, even if you are on vacation or at home. The CC division has extremely talented low and mid-level people, but senior management that ignores them on a daily basis. Management doesn't care about product maintenance, just getting the new product on the market. They have great older products that are left without any attention. Edwards is very top-heavy, and new senior managers are always suspicious of long-term employees, as if staying at Edwards for more than five years is a bad thing.

Pros

Challenging work if you apply yourself, Great learning environment with ever changing needs, Good benefits

Cons

See a lot of people at corporate (Irvine) that do not do the work to support their title and pull over the other sites. A lot of employees with experience and work ethic are overlooked based on degrees, unfortunately with a lot of them leaving taking their experience with them. Expected to put work before anything else, and the expectation for learning, and checking off corporate SOPs ends with after hours to do work unrelated to the better of the company or patient. Lean teams are creating burn out, with overlook of those that are not "pulling their weight". Be a good boy/girl, keep your head down, be friends with the "right" people, and you will be fine. Honestly, you don't even have to do much work, just have a degree and don't cause a fuss and you will be the next Director!
