Pros
There is a mild feeling of accomplishment when you hit your targets but the work is constant, heavy and it doesn't change. There are 6 main jobs :- BREAD, PRODUCE, CHILLED, FROZEN, AMBIENT- regular stock, TILL. You will be given your duties & a time target. If you hit your time you will not get a well done or pat on the back unless you are new. If you don't hit your time targets you will be told & told & told until you start to get disciplinary actions. Very occasionally you will be retrained. YOU GO TO WORK TO WORK. Talking to each other is frowned upon and you will get told to stop talking if you are seen talking. So NO FUN FOR YOU!! You get very poor breaks & will be spoken to like dog dirt but if you can ignore it you might survive this harsh environment. Your rota will be all over the place so don't book anything or think that you will see weekends ever again! Unless you know the law you will not get what you want and if you do know working law don't think it will help you. If you are always taking back or telling the managers what is what you can expect to be pushed out of the business!
Cons
The money isn't as good as you think because unless you are a favourite employee you simply will not be given overtime. So despite the higher rate of pay you will not earn decent wages.
