Pros
wonderful students from all over the world, stimulating intellectual environment in a geographical area that does not offer that many opportunities for engaging with quality academic institutions; faculty benefits include sabbaticals which is no longer the case in many other universities from the US and Western Europe; Salaries could be competitive but only for those who are friends of the leadership
Cons
Byzantine and mostly opaque management, with faculty that needs to befriend and suck up to power. Weak people in positions of power particularly at administrative levels who are easily controlled because they know they did not get there on merit. Academic staff complained about how nasty and rude a certain person is when negotiation department budgets and administrative staff are often crushed by the lack of promotion opportunities. The place is run like medieval fiefdoms with incompetent and opportunistic people in top positions and a very low morale among regular employees.
