Good advancement potential, poor compensation policies - Assistant Vice President Citi Employee Review

Pros

There is unlimited advancement potential in a company this large. With offices all over the world, once you have gained a little experience within the company, you can apply to transfer pretty much anywhere you might want to live. Citigroup also pays a portion of education expenses and promotes internal education courses.

Cons

Compensation and benefits are low compared with smaller companies I have worked for. Human resources is very unhelpful, and promotions often come with little or no pay increase. A good portion of pay for exempt employees is variable (bonus based), so if the company has had a bad year, you may end up making less than the prior year in any given year. Base salaries are relatively low, and you will often see only a 1 to 3 percent pay increase each year, regardless of a change in job title or addition of new responsibilities.

Pros

Benefits and time off are definitely a plus, very accommodating.

Cons

Great working environment, but you need to be co cern every year when cuts hit. They rate you average if they plan on cutting you and it seems like the cuts are based higher on the older employees that have many years with the company. Growth was non existing, every year it was senior managers are not allowing any promotions even to 2 rating employees for many years.
