Pros

Professional environment, highly capable colleagues, lots of opportunities to learn & develop. Good salary, excellent benefits. Great teams to work with and great senior managers to learn from.

Cons

Incredibly high workload, unpaid overtime, too much time in meetings/calls means catching up on work after hours. Support from senior management is OK, could be better. Policy of paying very well but offset this with an extremely demanding workload & high expectations. Teams often seem to be understaffed to keep costs down. The compliance environment means wall to wall bureaucracy which makes it difficult to even get simple things done. A task that should take 1 hour can take 3 hours as a result.

Pros

Hybrid schedule, supportive managers, opportunities

Cons

Once you’re in, comp basically plateaus. Layoffs are happening across the board, which tends to be the full-time culture of citi. The vibe is very much “run lean” until something actually breaks, and only then consider adding headcount. You have to be intentional about protecting your work-life balance, because the implicit expectation is that you’re always on—24/7, 365—without the support of a properly staffed team.
