Pros

Internal mobility is encouraged to continue growing. So many opportunities for growth and development. It’s amazing to work with colleagues all over the globe. Lots of time off for upper level officers. Tuition reimbursement is not limited to your job area or line of work. The new culture initiatives are helping reduce meetings and emails. Love ability to be hybrid, great energy in office, although it can be loud and distracting so one less day in office would be even better.

Cons

Work life balance is good for some, but not all. Some managers are great at showing they care about your wellbeing. Definitely a sense of human-centered management here, but of course as with any company, that depends on your specific team dynamic. Some positions are overworked. There is lots of communication and transparency, however, because it’s such a large company, it takes forever to find internal info when you need it. Also some of the software they use is outdated and/or cumbersome.

Pros

Hybrid schedule, supportive managers, opportunities

Cons

Once you’re in, comp basically plateaus. Layoffs are happening across the board, which tends to be the full-time culture of citi. The vibe is very much “run lean” until something actually breaks, and only then consider adding headcount. You have to be intentional about protecting your work-life balance, because the implicit expectation is that you’re always on—24/7, 365—without the support of a properly staffed team.
