You'll be Constantly Micromanaged - Manager of International Sales DHL Express Employee Review

Pros

* Decent Base Salary * Good global operations network * Opportunities for advancement

Cons

* Short-term commission period where acquisition revenue is often discontinued before a new account fully ramps up their shipping with DHL *Micromanagement at an unbearable level. You're not treated like a professional. *Responsible for an extreme level of admin work and way too many performance discussions and often unnecessary meetings that keeps one away from maximizing sales revenue * You feel like an easily replaceable cog in a massive machine * Too many layers of management and red-tape to get simple tasks accomplished * Constantly decreasing commission structure year-on-year and ridiculous base salary increases that don't even keep up with the rate of inflation, ever for a strong performer in good standing * Unhappy drivers and operations folks (with some exceptions) that are largely miserable to deal with

Pros

Great compensation, benefits, and hours. Get to know many clients and businesses on route. Lots of exercise. Lots of alone time.

Cons

For some, the alone time can be very lonely. You are in a van or truck for many hours. Podcasts, radio, hands-free: get to love it. Sometimes logistics can be unpredictable. Delays, traffic, on-call pickups. You have to be very flexible and adaptive with fairly quick critical thinking skills to excel at this job.

Pros

Get entry level sales position. The company has great benefits..

Cons

You will be calling 80-100 times per day for months until you get promoted but it’s a fairly easy job. Can just be boring.
