Pros
* Salary is decent for the work expected; * There is relative job security; * Acceptable benefits for families etc.; * Job can potentially be interesting.
Cons
* The EC is very bureaucratic with simple decisions taking sometimes extremely long, there is also little flexibility to adapt to things on the go * Position in hierarchy is king, so solutions (or lack of thereof) depend on the professionalism, attentiveness and willingness of management * It is very hard to fire permanent staff. This can have three negative consequences: 1. Staff eventually become demotivated; 2. Incompetent people make work more difficult for others. 3. Temporary staff are used to do most of the work, with lowest benefits and no career prospects. * The wellbeing of staff is good in official communication, but reality does not reflect it.
