Pros
15% discount, when all staff are in and working hard it actually is quite a rewarding job, especially when it's all going well and the shop's looking good. If you ask, support from area and divisional managers was good I found.
Cons
Hours worked - as a manager I was contracted to 45, I think I did my contracted hours once all year, the rest of the time I was working between 50-60 regularly and occasionally in the 70s, this obviously has a huge impact on your work-life balance, which doesn't exist as even on your days off you know you'll be getting a call, and can't ignore them as the store will lose out. One bad day or staff member missing can cause your store to be dreadful for weeks before it picks up again. Productivity is fine for the most part, but the hours available mean there is no backup at all, there should be at least an extra person available for backup if someone isn't in. Staff turnover at all levels is astronomically high.
