Pros

Nothing. Management experience looks good on your cv but apart from that, nothing. It has been such a relief since leaving.

Cons

Everything. Farmfoods employ 1 person to do the work load of 3 people, resulting in impossible standards. As a result, staff always work extra hours for free to get finished and morale is absolutely rock bottom. No opportunity for progression. The Area Managers and above are all hired externally and have never worked in store so are absolutely clueless as to how to implement the business model in a practical everyday scenario. There is never any praise or recognition of a job well done, feedback is always negative. The Area/Divisional Managers are as ruthless as much as they are useless whilst the poor store staff are worked into the ground. This is a dead end job and you will never progress unless you leave and join a company who invest in their staff.

Pros

I am the wife of a store manager for Farmfoods, I am writing this review from a different perspective although from knowledge and history Farmfoods will not respond. The pros, money is ok but could be better for the high workloads, staff discount, flexiable working hours to fit around you

Cons

One on one all day and night, area managers unprofessional in their approach and manner, as a Store Manager you are expected to work through your break or not permitted to leave the store on your unpaid time and/or you can sit in your car in the car park. Due to staff constantly being cut you are working ridiculously long hours unpaid as a Store Mabsger however they will pay someone else to cover the store total madness!!! Leave home st 5.30am and don't get home until 9.30pm because you have no support from anywhere including your area manager to cover staff shortages. Loads of theft but still no security cameras put in place this includes robberies in store yet staff safety is not paramount to Farmfoods. Store manager held accountable for everything even when they are on holiday if something goes wrong. If you want no life join Farmfoids as you will stop seeing your family and move into the store you are managing . The constant cutting of staff makes the team insecure and leaves them pondering store closures

Pros

Fully expensed company car, phone and laptop. Staff discount of fifteen percent. Nice employees at store level at least

Cons

Everything. Do not work for this company I have been in retail for over 20 years and never in all my career have I seen people treated as badly as the divisional and other area managers treat the staff. Expected to do a 55-60 hour week as a minimum anything less is not acceptable. Was a disciplinary offence to turn your phone off I had phone calls at 4 in the morning not great with 2 young children. I was with a divisional manager while doing a store visit where he just screamed and shouted at two poor supervisors who had been left to it as the store had no manager or assistant manager, ridiculous situation
