Pros

Benefits are mediocre, could be worse. You will work with a variety of languages and equipment. You may be allowed to work on other projects as your skills allow, but you may not have the time.

Cons

You will be working with Hardware (printers and computers) you may have to eliminate your software and some hardware as the issue of a problem to get other resources to fix the issue. This is a manufacturing environment and as such, even in the office area, you will hear and feel the punch presses operating. There is no lunch area, eat at your desk or car or go out. The specific working area for the programmers are the worst I have ever encounterd in 20 years of programming. All hard surfaces, no carpet or carpetted cubes to keep down noise. The desks are in a common area and no one has any common courtesy to even attempt to keep the noise down. You will be forced to wear headphones ALL THE TIME. This is a dead end job, with no advancement opportunities that the other locations of Johnson Controls may have. If you want to advance, you will have to move to PA, MI or WI. On top of all of this, pay is below average and you will be required to work at least 9 hours a day. Interns are given more lattitude and opportunities than full-time employees. Quitting this job was like a weight being removed from my shoulders.

Pros

Decent base pay and fast paced work makes the days go by quickly. Lately the company has been actually investing in their new product lines ever since Joakim became our CEO.

Cons

The compensation is lacking. No bonuses whatsoever for senior level engineers even when they're recognized as a key contributor on the team. We are given our 401k match on March 1st to cover the previous year's matches so you lose out on a lot of the year's market gains. The healthcare coverage is mediocre at best for a fortune 500 company. The raises are still given like it's 2018; 3% is considered a "good" merit increase. This is due to the "forced distribution" merit increase system where only "so many" people can receives "above expectations" raises.
