Pros
The role transformed me from a hapless university student to a fast working manager, able to cope with running a multi-million pound business. It has provided me with problem solving skills and a fantastic work ethic.
Cons
Work/life balance is non-existent. Blame culture is rife throughout the entire Bridgend region. (No wonder turnover of Cat. 6 staff was so high and retention was rubbish). When you ask for help, the bare minimum is given. 10 hour shifts are to be expected as a minimum, five days a week. Expected to be on call. Not just for shifts but for fire alarms, burglar alarms delivery drivers unhappy that you left one pallet in the way and cant be bothered to move it themselves to make a point. Close into open shifts were the norm. Holidays agreed upon with management are not honoured. No bonus pay - just 'time owed'. Yeah very rarely do you get that back and when you do you get a phone call asking you to do a shift. There IS a company benefits scheme. Let me know if you actually manage to gain access to that though, because they've made it so difficult for you to actually access it.
