Pros

The media intelligence space is a really exciting industry to be in and the Meltwater product is incredible, it's really amazing being part of the journey and being able to work on our product with our clients. What Meltwater does really well is keep young/ newer employees engaged with strong cultural initiatives and uncapped bonus structures - it's great for people in their 20s, beyond that though, it's not an ideal work place to develop your career if you're looking for something long term. As a young person straight out of university or with a few years of experience behind you, it's a fantastic opportunity to swim in the deep end and really challenge your skillset, Meltwater gives young professionals the opportunity to learn and develop their sales methodologies and they truly walk out of the organisation as sought after sales people. You're also given a chance to learn team management, people development and leadership styles, there are very few companies globally who take that sort of chance on the potential of people, for that Meltwater is hands down a fantastic company to work for.

Cons

Really poor representation of female leadership, the company touts that there is more than 50% female leadership, however, where it really matters, in executive and regional management, there is less than 20% leadership across the board. Meltwater management does not encourage dynamic thinking, they aim to drive the organisation with 'yes' people rather than surround themselves with different opinions and thought patterns, it's a poor sign of leadership and a surefire way to lose future leaders within the company. Leaders and senior management need more training on people development initiatives and leadership principles. There is high turn over in people who have been at the company for 1-3/4 years, this is because they are not being developed as either promised or because their managers and leaders don't know how to keep them engaged, motivated and working towards their next career step. Many current and previous employees have spoken about their lack of development and motivation at the hands of their senior leaders and managers, and that career conversations are almost always either the same or inevitably a carrot of 'more sales = promotion' is dangled in front of them to be considered for a promotion.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review. It's great to know that you enjoyed your time at Meltwater and felt it was a great place to start a career in sales. With regard to diversity, that is a foundation of our culture and something we really value, and we work hard to support people of all backgrounds and promote them into leadership positions. Thanks again for your feedback. We really value the opportunity to identify opportunities to improve in these areas.

Pros

The product is cool and if properly onboarded customers will get value from it. Coworkers are fairly social If you are new to sales would be a good place to learn the basics

Cons

Probably the cheapest company I have ever worked for. Benefits are below standard, they changed the commission plan every year I was there so that you would make less money, and you are expected to share hotel rooms when you travel. Look up Meltwater on Reddit or LinkedIn. They are known for very aggressive sales tactics which you will be forced to implement on your customers. A culture of micromanagement that comes from the top down. Virtually no avenue for promotion unless you are willing to move or get lucky and someone leaves.
