Pros

-Young team and fun culture -20 Business Days of Paid Leave

Cons

-Most or all of Executive leadership has only worked at Meltwater -Since the company has started, they have not adapted to the new market of salary compensation. When they started, they were hiring new grads/inexperienced professionals and paid them accordingly, and with the goals of shaping them to the Meltwater way. If you are a working professional with experience and apply for their Account Management / Sales positions, the base is extremely low . The management team will let you know that your compensation will be made up by your OTE, but this is not the case. -While some may like a highly driven sales culture, this one here has a special one. This may not be a con, but I'd like to mention that every new sales you make, you ring a bell and the entire office will get together, give high fives, and you tell your success story on the sale. -Lack of complete transparency in compensation. Any changes in your commissions structure will not be documented - it is told verbally and this causes much confusion and miscomprehension. Many find out later their compensation isn't what they signed up for and they do not like to be transparent because if they were, they would not be able to hire talent as it's quite unfair. Both AMs and Sales commissions here do not set you up for success. Make sure if you are considering the job in Sales or Account Management, you really understand how you will be paid, and get that documented so they cannot turn on their word.

It’s great to hear you say you enjoyed the culture at Meltwater. We take a lot of pride in making sure the environment at Meltwater is fun and supportive. What you have described regarding compensation is not consistent with the communication the company provides. We are very transparent with compensation during and clearly define those through the interview process and in employment letters. Thanks again for your feedback.

Pros

The product is cool and if properly onboarded customers will get value from it. Coworkers are fairly social If you are new to sales would be a good place to learn the basics

Cons

Probably the cheapest company I have ever worked for. Benefits are below standard, they changed the commission plan every year I was there so that you would make less money, and you are expected to share hotel rooms when you travel. Look up Meltwater on Reddit or LinkedIn. They are known for very aggressive sales tactics which you will be forced to implement on your customers. A culture of micromanagement that comes from the top down. Virtually no avenue for promotion unless you are willing to move or get lucky and someone leaves.
