Pros

- SAP offers a lot flexibility and benefits for it's employees (at least with my contract, which was a german one). You get a time account, pension programms etc. - I met a broad variety of passionated people with great skills in their profession. I sensed the average SAPee is pretty well trained. - Diversity is a strong part of the culture (though the Top Management is rather a (toxic?) boys club...)

Cons

- In my role as an Agile Coach I was completly missing an overall agile strategy, the slightest kind of governance or willingness to invest into the topic from the SAP Management and Board. Actually, it's quite horrifying for an IT company to have such low agile maturity and no one in the Top Management that even has an understanding for the basics of agile working. Thus, my job as an Agile Coach was often mediated by a lot of frustration and I am leaving this company for another place where agility is more than just a lip service. - Travel was hardly restricted in my time and it was almost impossible to get people together for Team- and Org Development activities. Yet, this is of utmost importance to build resliant and strong high performance teams... - career paths in the context of Agile are non-extistent / extremly weak.

Pros

I really liked my role at SAP. After being a cloud Customer Success Manager supporting strategic clients for several years, I moved into a group doing digital customer outreach including producing newsletters, release enablement, webcasts, documentation, event registrations, etc. Salary and bonuses were good, no complaints there.

Cons

No real cons for the job that I was in, except that our group was eliminated by the corporate restructuring and reduction in workforce in North America in 2025. I would have loved to stay but unfortunately we probably showed up on a restructuring spreadsheet somewhere and it was determined that our services were no longer needed. We off-boarded most of our work to other existing employees (who already had full time jobs), which felt unfair to them, but that is how it shook out.
