Pros

Healthcare is excellent, would work just for that. You will meet people from all walks of life - from high school drop outs to PhDs!

Cons

Lot of bullies in the ranks - everything's done on seniority and those there the longest act as though they own the place and god they let you know it! Management compounds this by playing favorites and won't discipline the offenders. As long as packages are moved they don't care. It's a physically harsh environment to work, especially in the summer. The heat in a container can go well over 100 degrees. Water used to be provided but this was stopped owing to cost. There are some water fountains but in summer this just give you tepid water. Though to be fair ice machines were installed. However, if you getting a mouthful of water from a fountain. Having an ice machine is moot. Time off is positively Victorian and mean - nothing in your first year then two weeks until you hit seven years - also if you work the Tuesday to Saturday schedule you lose the majority of bank holidays off - but, you do get paid for them. Personally, as there's so little leave I'd rather have the option of time off. A lot of people get hurt - drivers develop knee and back problems. Though the pension kicks in at 30 years. How many actually make it to the full 30 years?

Pros

The pay is excellent .health care is 100 % paid with 100 %coverage...with exception to eye and dental which is about 70%..coverage...pension is outstanding..full package with wages and benefits is worth 130,000 yearly..without a college education I am grateful for the standard of living UPS HAS AFFORDED ME AND MY FAMILY!...and with 27 years of service I now get 6 weeks vacation with 8 sick days..and 9 paid holidays...we work hard like many people in the work force but we are well compensated!.

Cons

The only con is while your children are young you give up a lot of family time..I never got to watch my kids play sports and missed a lot of their growing years...the job can be hard on your home life but if you can make it through those years you and your family will enjoy the financial freedom that UPS provides...and now I look forward to a prosperous retirement!...so hang in there all you young drivers...
