Pros

Considerable downtown. Ability to finish masters degree while at work. Important mission and strong job security. TS clearance can be valuable after seperation.

Cons

Frequent short notice schedule changes. Inconsistent schedules. Expectations are that you will work night shift with little to-no-notice or preparation. You will spend 1 to 2 weeks per month away from home and family for the first 3 to 6 years. Base locations for the first 3 to 6 years are limited to MT, WY, and ND. This is one of only a few jobs in the Air Force that will not allow you to compete for special duty assignments or career broadening at your 3 year mark. Skills learned have very limited transferability in the civilian world.

Pros

Getting 2.5days of accrued leave per month is nice, which adds up over time. You can request leave whenever within your schedule and it won't be denied.

Cons

Not too much structure when it comes to squadron training. Depends on your squadron but leadership can really determine your experience.
