Pros
Unprecedented accesses and learning opportunities at even the lowest levels. A wealth of experience available from people who have worked with the Air Force and in government contracting for generations. Benefits that no civilian position will provide without question -- housing, food, healthcare, and education are all guaranteed.
Cons
Unprecedented levels of bureaucracy. Expect for many people to commit to useless operational changes, programs, and briefings in order to pad out their performance reviews. Expect for your initial training to poorly reflect or not to reflect the actual operational environment, team structure, or systems that you will use. You are at the whims of a completely different legal system, and you will be expected to turn on a dime if ordered, regardless of your living circumstances. Be stingy and be prepared for anything. Expect the materials you work with to be obstinate or dysfunctional -- particularly the computers.
